Here's
Who We Are:
BCLIR's daytime study groups in Art, Music, Literature, History, Science,
Economics, and more are developed and coordinated by BCLIR members.
Members choose the study group topic, develop the syllabus, and facilitate
the class sessions. Through the lively give-and-take of spirited,
rational discourse we seek to provide an environment where all learn
from each other.
In
most study groups each participant is expected to research, report,
and lead discussion on a certain aspect of the subject matter during
the semester (typically once per semester). In some material is presented
in a lecture/discussion format in which class members are encouraged
to engage the lecturer and others but no presentation is required.
The informal classes meet once a week for two hours.
